Pollen Allergy in Europe

چکیده
In Europe, pollen allergy is the most typical form of seasonal respiratory allergic disease. However, in some regions of the world, pollen can be present in the air throughout the year. More than a quarter of a million pollen producing plant species have been catalogued, but of these, less than 100 are significant in terms of inducing allergy to their pollen in man. There are various reasons why only a minority of these species induce allergic reactions. In order to be allergenic pollen grains must:

Peach allergy: different clinical profiles across Europe
Rosaceae fruit allergy is the most common food allergy in Europe in patients over 5 years of age. The two fruits most frequently involved are peach and apple. Different clinical phenotypes of peach allergy are observed across Europe in relation to different allergen sensitisation patterns to the peach allergens Pru p1 (Bet v 1 homologue), Pru p 3 (peach lipid transfer protein, LTP), and Pru p 4...
متن کاملThe Prevalence of Saffron Pollen Allergy in Saffron Workers of Khorasan (Iran) in 2002
Iran is the main producer of Saffron in the world and a great number of Khorasan (the largest province of Iran) are involved in growing this plant. Recently, saffron pollen has found great importance due to inducing allergic reactions. In this study, the prevalence and clinical symptoms of saffron pollen allergy and specific IgE level in saffron workers have been studied. For this purpose, 167 ...
متن کاملClimate Change and Future Pollen Allergy in Europe
BACKGROUND Globally, pollen allergy is a major public health problem, but a fundamental unknown is the likely impact of climate change. To our knowledge, this is the first study to quantify the consequences of climate change upon pollen allergy in humans. OBJECTIVES We produced quantitative estimates of the potential impact of climate change upon pollen allergy in humans, focusing upon common...
متن کاملInteraction Between Air Pollutants and Pollen Grains: The Role on the Rising Trend in Allergy
Asthma and allergic diseases cases have risen in recent decades. Plant pollen is considered as the main aeroallergen causing allergic reactions. According to available data, urban residents experience more respiratory allergies than rural residents mainly due to the interaction between chemical air pollutants and pollen grains. This interaction can occur through several mechanisms; chemical pol...

Pollen allergy is the most common form of seasonal respiratory allergic disease in Europe. More than a quarter of a million pollen producing plant species have been catalogued world wide. Pollens are carried from the anther of the...
